Sagem Flexi (for integration)

The point-of-sales Flexi terminal from Sagem Denmark provides the highest security in electronic payment transactions. In addition, it has a user-friendly design and aims to make things simpler for the user, the retailer and the acquirer.

Sagem Flexi can handle magnetic stripe cards and chip cards in secure PIN-based transactions.

Robust, user-friendly design
Sagem Flexi has a timeless design that is suitable for any shop environment. Much attention has been paid to user friendliness and robust construction. The PIN shield is integrated in the cabinet, so that it forms a natural part of the design.

Ergonomic keypad
The Sagem Flexi keypad has been ergonomically designed so that it is easy to use no matter the size of the hands operating it. The number of keys has been limited to what is needed, and their location is well arranged.

The keypad is a secure PIN keypad. This means that it is integrated with a tamper-evident enclosure that contains a microprocessor that encrypts the PIN code.

Adaptable payment application
Sagem Denmark provides a payment application that can be used with Sagem Flexi. The payment application is adapted to the requirements of specific acquirers. The payment application can be deployed either in the cash register or in an application processor embedded in the Sagem Flexi.

Alternatively, the Sagem Flexi can be used as a secure customer interface providing secure PIN entry and card reading capability to third-party payment applications. If desired, such a solution can later be upgraded to Chip & PIN (EMV) by implementing the Sagem Payment Application.

Easy SAM support
The Sagem Flexi provides sockets and interface for 4 SAM modules. These can be used if required by the payment scheme. As an example, the Danish Payment Application requires a SAM chip (called a PSAM) to be present.

Sagem Flexi can hold up to 4 PSAMs (Payment Secure Application Module). Mounting is easy and requires only a screwdriver to dismount the lid in the bottom of Sagem Flexi and then mount the PSAM. The mounting is just as easy as mounting a SIM card in a mobile telephone.

Secure cardholder verification
The optimum verification of a cardholder is made by means of PIN entry. Sagem Flexi does of course support secure entry of a PIN code. However, signature may be used if permitted by the card issuer/acquirer.

Various means of communication
Communication with the acquirer is made either through the cash register or directly from the controller embedded in the Sagem Flexi. Different means of communication are available, including ethernet, network, ADSL and ISDN.
