Increased self-service banking requires increased security

Self-service banking will continue to grow in significance, both in terms of usage rates and the functionality offered by ATMs (automatic teller machines). The range of services offered at self-service terminals will extend well beyond cash deposits and withdrawals. With an increasing number of ATMs installed around the world, customers will benefit from easy access to banking services exactly where they need them.

More systems and locations require new levels of security to meet the challenges of growing criminal activity towards the ATM industry. Security consciousness varies from country to country, specifically in the ATM arena, but the focus is going to be increasingly on security, as demonstrated by the growing number of ATM attacks in certain countries. With growing instances of card-based fraud, identification – beyond doubt – of the user and secure encryption processes will continue to play a key role.

Within the transaction and payment security area, BBS Denmark has developed a full range of high-quality encrypting PIN pads and security software for ATMs.
